We Do All Public Spaces

“I just purchased a small building and I would like to convert it to a hair salon for my new hair styling business.  Will you do that?”

Absolutely!  We are professionally trained to design and do the space planning for any space.  Even if you don’t see a photo of the type of space that you want to do on our site, we can do it.  We are only limited by our imaginations – which means that there are no limits.

Let me explain.  As professional designers, we understand the basic elements of design – line, color, shape, texture, mass & proportion.  These basic principals are universal and they apply to anything that we design.  If you like our style, call us for your personal and free design consultation (717) 526-7866.  We will be happy to bring our most current projects along to show you the full spectrum of our abilities.

Case Study #82:

For example Dr. R and Dr. W. came to us when they decided to lease a building for their new medical practice.

Project Challenges and Our Solutions

Since this was a start-up business their budget was rather modest.  To save on cost, we chose not to gut the entire space.  Instead, we kept as many of the existing rooms in-tact as possible.  While this was challenging, we were able to maintain and even enhance the flow of the space to make it look and feel like those rooms where purposely planned for the new renovation.  We even kept as much of the existing carpet (which covered the majority of the floor surfaces) as we possibly could.

Client's Reaction
Both doctors and I are so thrilled with the feed-back they get from their patients on a regular basis.  “I love coming in here!  It is so warm and welcoming.  It makes me feel like I am really being cared for”.  This warm welcoming feeling is exactly what we were going for.  To enhance the flow from one area to another, we were very mindful of each color and every material that we selected along the way.  For example, we paid special attention to how the flooring material from the more public areas transition to the private areas.

“We looked at other professionals in the area who specialize in medical office design but found that the look they provide is rather generic.  We wanted a more personal touch for our medical practice.  After all, it’s about caring for people, and we all know that busy medical practices often fall very short of making patients feel like human beings rather than just numbers.  We wanted our practice to break that mold.  We hired Interior Dimensions because we were confident that they would help us bring our vision to life and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results”. – Dr. W. of Harrisburg, PA.

For example, Norm G. called us when the congregation that he belonged to wanted to freshen up their synagogue.  When we first went to look it, we agreed that it was looking rather ‘tired’ and could use some sprucing up.  While the congregation didn’t have a huge surplus of funds, they did have enough for us to make some cosmetic changes to the main sanctuary, the main chapel, and the social hall.  These simple yet strategic changes made a profound difference in the appearance of these spaces.
Here’s what we did:

Challenge #1:
There was a large, beautiful, low relief Star of David on the ceiling in the main sanctuary.  However, it was barely noticeable because the ceiling was painted in three subtly different shades of beige.

Our Solution:
By painting the star a mat gold and painting its background a deep blue, the star now shows magnificently while the colors pay homage to the traditional colors of the synagogue’s heritage.

Challenge #2:
The Bima (In a church this would be the pulpit) had beautiful white Italian marble.  Again, this marble looked washed out because the walls around it were painted beige.

Our Solution:

By painting a deep blue border around the marble we were able to make it stand out and look new.

Challenge #3:
The old, worn looking carpeting in the isles was also beige.  Not only was this color bland but because it was so light, it showed dirt very easily.  Again, paying homage to the traditional colors of the synagogue’s heritage, we recommended gold border with a deep blue field to give the space definition as well as better function.

The client’s reaction:
“We have received such positive feedback from the congregants about the new look.  We are so glad that you understood what we needed and understood our budget”.

Whether your space is a hair salon, a restaurant, a dance club, or a retail store we have the expertise to handle it.  We love the variety”! – Gavi Fiedler, Interior Dimensions, Inc.
