As professionals, we see homeowners and business owners take up to two or three years to gear up to do a renovation project or to build a new home or office. There are so many questions that homeowners ask themselves:
- Should I build or remodel?
- If I remodel, how much should I invest into my current home/office?
- If I invest a lot of money into my current home/office, will I get it back down the road when I sell?
- Whom should I hire to help me with my remodel project—an architect, an interior designer, a general contractor?
- In what part of my house/office should I begin my renovation?
With so many choices to make, it’s no wonder that people are taking so long to make a decision!

We are NOT selling anything
Consider this complimentary consultation a golden opportunity to pick the brain of a skilled, trained professional, to get a real, clear idea of the direction that is best for you. Although we do get some of our work as a result on our complimentary consultations, we go into these free advice sessions with no preconceived notions. And because we are not a cookie-cutter company, we are not eager to take on just any project that comes across the screen. There are several things that we look for when we partner with a homeowner:
1. It must be a project that is in our area of expertise: We are interior space planners, interior designers, and renovation contractors. So,
space planning is one of our solid areas of expertise. If your project involves interior space renovation—which sometimes includes adding a room, or rooms, to the existing house or office—that’s our niche. We do not claim to be traditional architects—we don’t design entire houses or commercial buildings from scratch. But, just like architects, we have the expertise to identify load-bearing walls in your house—so we know what the possibilities are when it comes to proposing altering your interior living space or work environment.
Ellen and her husband Jeff, recent empty-nesters, were struggling between building a new home and renovating their existing home. During our no-hassle, no-strings Complimentary Design Consultation they realized that, given their enormous equity in their existing home, building a new one made no sense at all. The free consultation was eye-opening for them. Ellen said,
“even though we decided to try it first ourselves, we just didn’t have the skills or experience to see what the Interior Dimensions team did. Their specialty is their unique vision. They are truly gifted when it comes to coming up with fresh ideas”. 2. Size does NOT matter: We don’t care how large or how small your project is. We care more about quality. In the past few months we’ve helped clients with such projects as:
- a powder room renovation on a budget of about $4,000
- re-arranging existing furniture/refurnishing a living room, charged on an hourly rate
- designing and providing a window treatment, completed in just 3 weeks
- hanging pictures and artwork, then returning for help with furniture shopping two days later
It doesn’t matter how big or how small your project is.
Here’s why:
We understand that there are many people like you who need professional help and expertise for many, varied types of interior décor and space-planning problems. We are glad to be there for you when you need us for the “little” things—because we know that once you experience our top-notch service, you will call on us when you are ready to do the big jobs. Too, we value building a trusting relationship with you.
3. We all need synergy and trust: Maybe the most important thing that we look for when we talk to folks about working together is the mindset of the homeowner or business owner. We find that when we are on the same page with our clients, then the entire process from start to finish (from designing to building out the design) goes seamlessly. To be on the same page, we have found that we commonly share these things:
- Mutual trust — both we and our clients feel relaxed and that our needs will be met
- Mutual synergy — both we and our clients share a positive energy about the project at hand. This harmonious energy breads more positive energy, and this unifies us and builds an alliance between us that allows us to work together as a team. There is an open line of communication and thoughts and ideas are expressed freely.
As you might imagine, this most definitely affects the end results of the project.
As one of our clients, Mrs. J. said with great frustration when we first met
“I’ve had three designers here already. And before each one came, they all assured me I would have a clear idea of their vision for my basement by the time they left our first meeting. Well, I still have no clue what they had in mind and they wanted to charge me a design retainer of $2,000!”
