We do color / materials consults
So you want to paint all the white walls in you house with color but you don’t know where to start and you’re afraid to make a huge mistake by choosing the wrong colors?
No problem. We can help.
Another one of our specialties is color/materials selection. It is something that we do on a daily basis when working with clients on renovation or new-build projects. However, if that is all you would like us to do for you – that’s fine.
Case study #44:
The challenge
Martha W. called us to her home because she and her husband Jerry wanted to paint each room in the house. They wanted to do the actual painting themselves, but they didn’t know what colors to choose.
She shared her passed frustrations with us. She said, “It is so hard to pick colors from a tiny little color swatch! Every time I’ve tried this in the past, I hated the color once it was all over the walls. I just need you to tell me what colors to paint in each room and I am more than willing to pay you for this”. I reassured her that she is not alone and that we hear this all the time. Picking colors for walls is not an easy task, especially if all you have to work with is a small swatch.
Our Solution
When we went to Martha’s and Jerry’s house I took my designer paint sample kits with me.

| Insider’s secret: “What do I mean by designer paint sample kit? This is not a kit that has special “designer colors”. They are large box kits complete with all the colors that the major paint manufacturer’s make like: Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams, etc. These paint kits are only available to designers. That is why they are called designer sample kits. Your painting contractor can’t even get them. They contain larger sized samples. This, combined with our expertise allows us to hit a home run every time.” William Hapeman, Designer, Interior Dimensions, Inc. |
We asked several strategic questions and carefully listened to Martha’s and Jerry’s answers. This enabled us to recommend the right colors for the look and feel they wanted to achieve. In some areas they did not know what look or feel they wanted and asked us to guide them.
Here is what they said to us after all the painting was done:
Client Reaction:
“We are so glad that you didn’t mind consulting us on just the colors. To be perfectly honest we were afraid to call and ask you to do only this because we thought that you would not be interested in a project so “small”. We just love the colors you chose for us. I especially love the color in our bedroom. It is so soothing. It was so worth the $300 consultation fee. Knowing that we would love the colors not only took out stress away, but it also saved us a lot of money and sweat by not having to repaint like we’d done in the past. Thanks so, so much”.
A paint consult can run between $200 - $3,000 and sometimes more - depending on the size and complexity of the space.
